Get the best from your inkjet prints
The ILFORD GALERIE Prestige and Premium ranges of photo inkjet products have been designed to meet the demands of today’s photo quality inkjet printers. These products do not suffer from bronzing or coalescence (see explanation below), when used under the recommended environmental conditions with the correct printer settings.
Bronzing
This is known as “Bronzing“. You can minimise or even stop the bronzing effect by reducing the amount of black ink you use when printing. Typically this can be done with image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop™. Bronzing occurs when the ingredient which turns the ink cyan, magenta, black or yellow is too large to absorb into the paper so it stays on the top to form a dry film surface.
Coalescence
This is known as “Coalescence“. Again you can minimise or even stop this effect by slowing down the speed of the printer. Normally, you can slow the printer speed down changing the printer settings to the high quality printer mode. With some printers the film mode will also slow down the printing speed. Coalescence occurs because the ink is absorbed into the paper at a slower rate than the printer is jetting the ink.
Matting
This is known as “Matting“. You can minimise or even stop matting by reducing the amount of black ink being used. Typically this can be done with image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop™. Matting occurs when the ink does not fully enter the receiving layer.
