Eddie Tap – M.Photog., MEI, Cr., API

“As a color management expert, I’m very particular about my prints. With ILFORD GALERIE Gold Fibre Silk, colour fidelity is outstanding.”

A gifted photographer and artist, Eddie Tapp has become a tireless educator for professional photographers and a prominent figure in the world of digital imaging. His digital imaging seminars have been hosted around the world, and he’s a regular consultant to businesses large and small. Today, he’s recognized as one of the top experts on digital photography and Photoshop in the world. With a reputation as an authority on workflow, colour management, calibration and Photoshop, he is associated with Adobe Systems along with some of the world’s most prominent photographic manufacturers and distributors.

“The greatest honour in my educational career was being inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame in 2006. The greatest honour in my photographic career was being invited to be an Explorer of Light with Canon USA. And I am proud and blessed with the highest awards from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) which include the Gerhard Bakker Award, National Award and Directors Award where I am honoured with the distinction of Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, Master of Electronic Imaging, Approved Photographic Instructor and Certified Professional Photographer.”

Lately, he’s been very active in educating and consulting studios, agencies, and corporations all over the world, and his list of professional clients is quite impressive: Eastman Kodak, Polaroid, Apple Computer, Dynacolor Graphics, and American Color Lab, among many. Add to that the U.S. Departments of Defense and Energy, other government agencies, and a long, long list of photographic studios. Eddie has been an invited guest at the Microsoft Pro Photo Summit, a gathering of “thought-leaders in the professional digital photography industry.”

No matter who he works for, though, Eddie’s chief aim is to help fellow photographers move gracefully into the digital age, and he’s put together several workshops and seminars for those who want to create beautiful photos entirely with digital equipment.

“Once or twice a year I teach a week-long Photoshop workshop in Hawaii,” in his role as the Director of the Institute of Visual Arts in Maui, he explains. “The objective is to create images that will be put through the entire digital workflow process from capture, process and output then present it all in a very spiritual and beautiful location.

Eddie also offers one- to five-day workshops, on-site staff training, one-on-one training, and an “ETime Remote” on-line training program, along with seminars in cities throughout the world and has a series of interactive educational DVDs produced by Software-Cinema.com along with Kelbytraining.com (online training). So, he recently embarked on a project that colleagues have urged him to do for a long time: writing how-to books.  His first two books “Photoshop Workflow Setups” and “Practical Color Management” are available now.
